“ It shouldn’t be turned veneer – it has to be knife-cut in a specific way. Those are the kinds of details we never compromise on.
The level of quality we maintain at Horreds is something you’d normally only find in a true carpentry workshop – not at a typical office furniture manufacturer.”
In the Viskan valley, where arable land is scarce, we’ve learned that nothing should go to waste. We must be efficient and take care of what we have. Here, between lakes and forests, we have spent generations refining wood – a living material that carries memories, shapes spaces and lasts for decades.
From this, our philosophy has grown, as natural as the landscape around us: to create furniture that endures for generations – in every sense. It’s in our nature – to stand firmly in the local while daring to go against the current. That’s what Be the rebel with a purpose is all about.
A passion for wood.
We choose our materials with care and love. We know wood – its temperament, its logic – and we have the technical expertise to bring out its best. Every step in our production follows a rhythm shaped over generations, from material selection to the fine detailing where each piece comes together into a finished whole. That’s why our furniture stands apart.
The feeling of running your hand across a perfectly crafted tabletop – the sheen of a beautiful wood veneer. “Over the years, we’ve learned how wood behaves, how it breathes and lives. Today, we master one of the finest surface finishes in the Nordics for staining and lacquering.”
In a world where the exterior often means everything, for us, the surface – the finish – truly matters.
Nothing goes to waste.
Every piece is made to order, with respect for the raw material and with details designed to be renewed as life changes. The leftover wood heats our village – the school, the health centre and nearby homes. The electricity we use comes from a local hydroelectric plant just a few kilometres away. And that principle guides every decision we make.
