A natural way of thinking

The parish of Horreds lies to the south of Gothenburg near the west coast of Sweden covering 153 hectares of land, which is a beautiful patchwork of lakes, meadows, arable land and forests. Here, nature and the countryside are part of everyday life.

Close to our hearts

Horred is nestled in the Viskan valley between Varberg and Borås. This valley is relatively barren, with little arable land. It has shaped a mindset of efficiency – making the most of every raw material. Wasting resources is simply not an option. It goes against everything we believe in.

Last for generations

Our proximity to nature, our neighbours and our heritage has defined the way we work ever since Sven started crafting fully customised furniture back in 1936. His founding principle – to create furniture that lasts for generations – is still deeply rooted in everything we do at Horreds.

The majority of our furniture is made from wood – a fantastic, renewable material. We’ve worked with it for nearly 90 years, giving us a rare level of expertise in how to use it in the smartest, most sustainable way.

Most of our products come with a ten-year warranty – but of course, they last much longer. And if you ever want to update without replacing, you can change a tabletop or repaint the doors of your storage unit. Everything is made to order – with minimal waste and minimal environmental impact.

Green way of thinking

For the same reason, we only use green electricity from local hydropower – produced within a 10 km radius of Horred. And any wood waste from production is reused as energy in our district heating system, warming the local school, elderly care, health centre, apartments and homes in our village.

We are ISO 9001:2015 certified, and most of our products are Möbelfakta labelled – two fundamental pillars of trust and quality that guide us every day.

Towards a
circular economy

Horreds is ISO 9001:2015 certified and the majority of our products are labeled with the Swan and Möbelfakta, which are three very important cornerstones for us. Our strong and natural commitment to sustainable development goes all the way back to our start in 1936. We work in line with the UN Agenda 2030 and focus on areas that are relevant to us. This is part of our commitment to contribute to a more sustainable future.

Our local area, in the middle of the Halland countryside, influences us and our approach to furniture manufacturing. Concepts like “local” and “long-term” have been deeply rooted in our corporate culture since the beginning. Our mission is to create furniture that lasts and serves a lifelong purpose.

We aim to design products that make an impact while minimizing our impact on nature.

We only use green electricity from hydropower plants produced within a 10 kilometer radius of Horred. The wood waste we generate is reused as energy in our district heating plant, which heats schools, retirement homes, health centers, apartments and houses in Horred. In this way, we can reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable local community development. By utilizing local recycling and renewable energy, we strive to create a positive impact on our surroundings and reduce our carbon footprint.

Therefore, Horred’s furniture is the obvious environmental choice.
